Claudio Bassetti University of Bern, Faculty of Medicine / Insel Gruppe AG, Direktion Lehre und Forschung (CH)Claudio BassettiClaudio Lino Alberto Bassetti was born and raised in Ticino, is married and father of three boys. He speaks six languages and enjoys music, history and sports.
Bassetti received his MD degree from the University of Basel in 1984. He trained inneurology in Bern and Lausanne and performed research fellowships in experimental neurophysiology (Basel) and sleep (Ann Arbor, USA). In 2000 he was appointed professor of Neurology at the University of Zurich. In 2009 he founded the Neurocenter of Southern Switzerland. From 2012 until 2024, he was the director of the Neurology Department at the Inselspital.
Bassetti has been working thoughout his career mainly as a general neurologist with a special interest in clinical skills teaching. Using human and animal approaches he pioneered the studies between sleep, sleep disorders and stroke. He also made fundamental contributions to the etiology, pathophysiology and management of human narcolepsy. He authored over 560 publications (H index 105) and 10 books.
He served as president of the European Neurological Society, European Sleep Research Society and Swiss Neurological Society (SNS) and European Academy of Neurology (EAN). He has been the founder president of the Swiss Federation of Clinical Neurosocieties (SFCNS). For 8 years he served as board member of the Swiss Academy of Medical Sciences (SAMS). He currently serves as vice-president of the European Brain Council (EBC) and Dean of the Medical Faculty in Bern. He is honorary member of the SNS and EAN.

Normalien et médecin, Raphaël Gaillard est professeur de psychiatrie à l’Université Paris Cité, en charge du pôle hospitalo-universitaire de l’hôpital Sainte Anne. Ses travaux visent à modéliser le fonctionnement cérébral avec les outils informatiques et les apports de l’imagerie cérébrale. Il anime le principal congrès francophone de psychiatrie, le Congrès de l’Encéphale, qui reçoit chaque année plus de 5000 psychiatres, ainsi que la revue éponyme. Expert judiciaire, il préside la Compagnie des Experts médecins de la Cour d’Appel de Paris. Il est l’auteur de nombreux articles scientifique dans des revues internationales de psychiatrie et de neurosciences, et lauréat du Prix Philippe et Marie Halphen de l’Académie des Sciences. Auteur de Un coup de hache dans la tête. Folie et créativité (Grasset, 2022) et L’homme augmenté (Grasset, 2024), il a été élu à l’Académie française le 25 avril 2024 au fauteuil 16, laissé vacant par la disparition du Président Valery Giscard d’Estaing.

Thomas Fuchs Klinik für Allgemeine Psychiatrie, Universität Heidelberg (DE)Thomas FuchsProf. Dr. Dr. Thomas Fuchs, Psychiater und Philosoph, lehrt als Karl-Jaspers-Professor für philosophische Grundlagen der Psychiatrie und Psychotherapie an der Universität Heidelberg. Er ist Leiter der Sektion Phänomenologische Psychopathologie und Psychotherapie an der Psychiatrischen Universitätsklinik Heidelberg. Er ist zudem Herausgeber der Zeitschrift „Psychopathology“ und Vorsitzender der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Phänomenologische Anthropologie, Psychiatrie und Psychotherapie (DGAP). 2023 wurde ihm der Erich-Fromm-Preises für Humanistische Psychologie verliehen. Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte sind die Phänomenologische Psychologie, Psychopathologie und Anthropologie, Theorien der Verkörperung und der Neurowissenschaften.
